WeatherBar is small and simple freeware that displays the weather forecast for your location in a very convenient manner, right on your desktop. Unlike the many other similar weather forecast displaying tools that require you to access their main windows in order to see the weather data, this one provides a different approach. It can integrate with Windows 7 in such way that it will display the weather info right on the taskbar (as a mouse-over pop-up panel), without requiring you to check its main window.

Other than that, there are no other special things about this neat tool. It’s indeed very simple, small, and lightweight, and it can be used with ease by anyone thanks to its minimalistic, very intuitive interface. There are no intricate settings, just the possibility to set the update interval and the data format. Furthermore, it’s open source, so if you’re a developer, you can check its source code for free – just keep in mind that this small tool is written in C#.

Unfortunately, it seems there’s still a lot of bug fixing to come, as this utility crashed a lot during my testing. Errors like “Weather cannot be updated at this time. The given key was not present in the dictionary.” and “An error occurred while obtaining weather conditions. Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.” made checking this tool a rather unpleasant experience. Anyway, once it gets a bit fine tuned, it should represent a pretty interesting and handy weather checking utility.
